With friends like this, we don't need enemies.
A huge crowd of 300 activist multimillionairres -- and people flown to Washington and put up at some place like the Hayes-Adams for $1000 a night or so at the expense of union working men and women --rallied at the National Mall in Washington on September 18 in favor of Medicare.
The group included Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who makes or made hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from consulting and teaching a course or two at Harvard and other tasks that gurantee she will never have any need for Medicare. Warren was joined by two government employee/retirees who will get high government pensions and healthcare insurance making them also immune from dealing with those of us in the real world on Medicare.
Interestingly the two millionairre retirees bill themselves as the Koch Sisters although they are not related. I don't think they understand the irony of that.
Overall it was like the '60s all over again. But with chairs. And official T-shirts. And cell phones to keep you busy during the boring speeches.
