I haven't decided yet if the word "lies" in the headline above is a verb or noun. It works both ways. The loony lefty at "The Incidental Economist" put out on April 1 what may be his looniest opinion ever concerning Medicare (and this was a very high bar for him to top). He writes:
" I know that exchanges are, to some conservatives, more preferable than the single-payer-like Medicare system we have now."
What could he possibly be talking about on any level?
First, Why would conservatives have anyting against Internet web sites? What conservative opinion is he possibly reading that says a such a thing? Or is it the typical loony left habit of not comprehending well? We have had a Medicare exchange for almost 10 years. The Medicare exchange (see illustration) was created by conservatives.
Second, please stop repeating the Doctors against Insurance Company organization lie that Medicare is single payer. Medicare is not single payer by any definition of that term and it definitely is not single payer in the sense that we seniors have to deal with this crappy government system that has been imposed upon us by our grandfathers. In general, seniors on Medicare deal with two to five other payers... in addition to ourselves. And we pay over 50% of our health care costs on average out of our own pocket.
