First RomneyCare Salesman Says No One in Massachusetts Calls It “RomneyCare”

In one of the strangest of all the strange statements made by RomneyCare apologists, original Massachusetts Healthcare Connector director and former left-wing-Tufts-Health-Plan PR flack Jon Kingsdale takes the cake. He claims that no one called Massachusetts’ so-called health insurance reform “RomneyCare” until Romney ran for president in 2012.

 

Kingsdale made the claim on a C-Span session on November 24 filled with all the rest of the typical RomneyCare apologist deceptions about employment sponsored insurance remaining the same after the bill passed (see facts in image above), and the cost of individually purchased insurance premiums decreasing 25%. In addition, he did not mention that RomneyCare was effectively repealed in 2012 because of its failure.

I am sure Martha Bebinger, an excellent but far-left-wing journalist on the left-wing Boston University national public radio affiliate, never thought she would see the day when only she and the right-wing Boston Herald (see here and here and other earlier Herald articles) were the only ones covering a major news event in Massachusetts. The usual left-wing political correctness has kept the Globe, South Middlesex News, Cape Cod Times, Berkshire Eagle, etc.¹ all looking the other way as 100,000 or so Massachusetts residents are being screwed by the state.

Massachusetts is just a side show in the nationwide scandal that is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and Obamacare insurance.

Sure Massachusetts' web site doesn't work either -- and we paid a fortune to the same lobbyists that developed healthcare.gov. But very few people ever used it anyways so who cares. And a leading tech guru has analyzed the Massachusetts healthcare insurance web site and said it sucks... that's a high-class technical term.

 

Meanwhile a few percent of the popluation -- the working poor -- are going to start paying more in premiums in four weeks (or get much worse insurance). Even when his Chicago buddy says it's alright to keep your insurnace, Governor Deval Patrick says, "Screw you, working stiff."

Massachusetts' Health Connector Obamacare exchange is experiencing 30-second plus response time delays near "the front door" and seems to be under maintenance if you are actually trying to do anything as of about Noon Wednesday November 13.

A quick look at Massachusetts new Obamacare web site, which replaced the RomneyCare web site on October 1, 2013, tells you how poorly Commonwealth Care subscribers are being treated by the state.

New Massachussets' Obamacare-Insurance Website Just as Bad As National Obamacare-Insurance Website

It's ironic that while all the Massachusetts left-wing goo goos and politicians and editors like Rick Holmes of the South Middlesex News are tripping all over themselves claiming that the roll-out of RomneyCare in 2006-2008 somehow compares to the "train wreck" in Washington since October 1, 2013 (they are all telling another left-wing lie when they claim there is any comparison between the two!), the new Massachusetts Obamacare-insurance¹ website is turning out to be just as screwed up as the one in Washington (see here, here and here). 

As I said before, I think this whole counting headcount thing is a waste of time at this point in the enrollment process becasue of the standard sales/marketing "hockey stick" effect. But if your Commonwealth Care insurance runs out December 31, you only have a month to sign up for something new.

U.S. Census Bureau Confirms Dramatic Rise in Uninsured in Massachusetts

The 2013 version of the U.S. Census Bureau's Current Population Survey -- Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC) -- confirms the dramatic¹ rise in the percentage of uninsured residents in Massachusetts. That's right in Maassachusetts, you know the poster-boy state where we have the universal health coverage that is the pride of the nation.

The above illustrations are from the latest Census Bureau SAHIE data release -- which can be found here and which I use because it comes with spiffy graphics. But the ASEC data which brings the data about Massachusetts' uninsured into 2012 -- but in a hard to comprehend Excel spreadsheet -- shows the same trend for 2011 to 2012 as SAHIE shows for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 above.

WikiPedia Lies about RomneyCare

Wikipedia is a far left wing web site that pretends to present impartial information to readers for free. In addition to its political bent, Wikipedia has the disadvantage of being consistently very wrong. But – not unrelated -- Wikipedia has the advantage that anyone can go on the site and change the words. But this advantage leads to

1.) the consistent errors noted previously and

2.) the left-wing bent because as soon as someone make an article accurate, some lefty comes along and changes it to whatever he or she thinks is politically correct.

With this in mind, I recently corrected the Wikipedia article concerning RomneyCare. By now the lefties have probably changed it back to the inaccurate mismash it was before I looked at it (you can tell by viewing the history tab).
