"U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle asked SEC attorneys why the bank's shareholders should be punished for the alleged misdeeds of Citigroup (C) executives."
According to the AP, this what a Federal judge said recently in response to a proposed Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) hearing.
At first reading, you have to say the judge obviously does not understand the concept of holding shares, making investments, risk and reward in the marketplace, and so forth.
But then you realize: Oh yeah, look who one of Citi's leading shareholders is. It's the Federal government.
