Apparently conceding that the European Union (EU) will approve the Sun (JAVA)/Oracle (ORCL) acquisition, the Finnish guys who founded the MariaDB company have moved their attack against Oracle to the bastions of democracy and fair play, China and Russa.
Self-styled European "public-policy consultant" Florian Mueller says in an email that the MariaDB company:
"..now looks past the EU process and sets its sights on China and Russia. These countries could still block the deal unless Oracle commits to formal and appropriate remedies... China and Russia can still say No unless there's a real solution in place. They are powerful, self-confident and open-source-friendly countries and they have every right and opportunity to do a better job on this than the EU."
Wow. It's an interesting public relations technique to call vicious, murdering fascist and statist thugs "self confident." Happily these are not really open source community friends. In fact, the whole Google (GOOG)-China experience proves how unfriendly China is to anything open.
As we said on December 15, now that the EU has saved face by Oracle releasing its non-commitment commitment to MySQL, this is a done deal. And public policy consulting is off to the salt mines.
